Jana Lutteropp Eventually Passed Away



German tourists from a 20-year-old was attacked by a shark and loses an arm, the incident occurred off the coast of Maui last week and the girl eventually died from the serious injuries on Wednesday, according to his family. He was the first person killed by a shark attack in Hawaii in nearly a decade.

Jana Lutteropp, 20, hospitalized since he was attacked by a shark while snorkeling in Maui and has gained near life support equipment before his death, said a hospital spokeswoman.

"Jana fought hard to stay alive. However, we are sad to say that he lost the battle today," said Lutteropp mother, Jutta Lutteropp, and her sister, Julia Broeske, in a statement issued by the Maui Memorial Medical Center.

Honolulu Star-Advertiser reported in an article on its website that Lutteropp do snorkeling about 50 yards off the coast, in an area known as White Rock, last Wednesday when he was attacked shortly before 5 pm.
Four days after Lutteropp attacked, during an 8-foot shark biting leg is also a 16-year-old boy while he was surfing along the east coast of the Big Island of Hawaii. The victim was, Jimmy Ulualoha "Ulu-friendly" Napeahi, suffered 30 injuries in the attack, which happened when he was surfing on Sunday with friends in Pohoiki Bay.

The assault incident marks the ninth shark attacks on humans in Hawaii waters this year, according to William Aila, the head of the Department of Land and Natural Resources. Aila said Hawaii usually recorded five or six cases involving humans and sharks each year, including bite cases or cases in which a shark bumping or contact with someone.

According to the Department of Land and Natural Resources, deadly shark attack in Hawaii last one occurred on April 7, 2004, when a surfer suffered severe bite wounds about 100 meters off the coast of Maui.
